THREE YEARS AFTER Covid-19 was declared a public health emergency, most people’s lives have (mostly) gone back to normal. Masks are rarely worn, about 80 percent of Americans have at least one Covid vaccine dose, and travel and other restrictions no longer exist—although people are still getting infected with the virus. Now, President Joe Biden plans to end the Covid-19 national public health emergency (PHE) on May 11. The decision was announced in January to give individuals and healthcare providers enough time to prepare for the transition. From: Michelle Ilyayev, LMHC Whether you’re frustrated by a coworker, friend, or family member, narcissism is often thrown around as an explanation. But it can do more harm than good to an argument, friendship, or working relationship if you don’t know what narcissistic personality disorder is and why it might not be the correct label. Additionally, consistent overuse of the term trivializes the genuine pain a narcissist is experiencing deep down and detracts it from its authentic meaning. Because of this, it’s essential to clearly define what a narcissist is and the potential dangers of overusing the term. A RELATED GOODTHERAPY ARTICLE:…
Carbohydrates are a staple in bodybuilding. They can factor into physical performance, stress, and sleep. The body will determine its needs through inflammation and immune function. If the goal is muscle gain, look no further than this food group. With so many different types of carbs, which ones best support this anabolic goal? Resistant starches can improve muscle protein synthesis (MPS) because of its effect on blood glucose. Why Starches? For context, the skeletal muscle organ is the largest in the body, containing almost half of the average body’s weight. It requires the most energy to keep running, taking on…
DAVID GYASI is just like you and me; he, too, wants more of Netflix’s The Diplomat. He wants more political subterfuge from the potentially dangerous British Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge (Rory Kinnear) and the undoubtedly murderous Russian mercenaries. He wants more of Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) and her penchant for shoving diplomacy down the reluctant throats of world leaders with integrity and unflappable convictions. After the show was renewed for a second season 11 days after the first season debuted, he’s ready for The Diplomat Season 2: throuples; deaths; clandestine pillow talk; and all. Unlike you and me, Gyasi plays…
Fruit Roll-Up ice cream, baked feta pasta, “lazy” Trader Joe’s meals . . . these are only a few examples of viral food trends that originated on TikTok in recent years. But the latest trend in line may be the simplest one yet: it requires nothing more than a humble bag of microwave popcorn and a lemon. The concept of lemony popcorn certainly isn’t new, but the snack is currently undergoing something of a renaissance on the ultra-popular social media platform, thanks to a video that has racked up more than 18 million views and 2.6 million likes. In it,…
First, the bad news: Our modern lives are not super conducive to proper posture. I’d venture to guess the majority of us spend a good part of our days hunched over in front of our computers and phones. (Amiright?) And that’s not great since slouching or bending your spine in strange ways all the time can hurt you physically and psychologically, says Dave Smith, a postural alignment specialist and consultant for the San Francisco 49ers, many NCAA players, and the U.S. Women’s Tennis Association. Bad posture can make your muscles imbalanced, weak, or too tight, which can lead to pain,…
You’d be surprised what you take for granted. Those things you don’t even think of but are naturally a part of life. In elementary school, I spent afternoons on the softball field swinging my bat and gleefully whizzing from base to base until I stole home. Stealing bases turned into stealing glances at crushes as I ran between floors for classes at my rather large high school. I found my second home at Framingham State University where I spent my days in fashion and merchandising classes, sewing pieces for the runways, planning fashion club events, and making tons of friends…

Women experience menopause at different ages — and different ways — which can, among other things, affect their heart health. The average age of natural menopause in the U.S is 52. There’s early menopause, under age 45, and premature menopause, under age 40, which may affect a very small group of women. There is also premature ovarian insufficiency. Dr. Chrisandra Shufelt, a Mayo Clinic women’s health specialist, says it’s important for anyone who experiences menopause to think about their heart health.
