55 Lbs. Lost

For Lindsay, a stay-at-home mother in her early 30s from Las Vegas, NV, the motivation to lose weight and live healthier was simple. She wanted to keep up with her three young children and demonstrate to them that a healthy lifestyle is a cornerstone for a happy family.  

Being the primary caregiver for three children is no easy feat. After eight years of being either pregnant or breastfeeding, Lindsay felt like her metabolism and sense of when she was actually hungry was “completely out of whack.”

I would go from feeling not hungry at all to feeling like I was starving the next minute.” – Lindsay

She often overate and didn’t pay much attention to the portions of food she indulged in. Knowing that she needed to reconnect with her hunger cues and become more mindful of her eating habits, Lindsay began logging her foods in Lose It!, and that’s when things started to turn around. 

I saw just how much I was eating every day. Logging my foods allowed me to focus on eating more reasonable portions. I was able to eat without overindulging and give my body time to realize it had eaten.” – Lindsay

The first couple weeks of her journey to better health were challenging, but once she got into a routine, she never felt like she was depriving herself of food.

These days, Lindsay has plenty of non-scale victories to celebrate. She can keep up with her energetic kids, and the entire family loves to meal plan together and enjoy healthy home-cooked dinners. One of her favorite family activities is ice skating, and she can stay on the ice the entire session without becoming winded as she did in the past. Her knees no longer ache when playing sports or exercising. Further, Lindsay has incorporated a new healthy habit to stay on track – making room for a reasonable amount of foods she enjoys, such as chocolate or a handful of chips, in her calorie budget so she doesn’t feel deprived. So far, her more mindful approach to eating is working out!
