Fans of singer, comic and actor Jamie Foxx have been concerned for his health since he was rushed to hospital earlier this year. Updates on how the star is doing or what caused his hospitalization have remained scarce, and he has not been seen in public ever since.

Here is everything we know about Foxx, including the latest updates on his condition.

April 11: Foxx is admitted to hospital

On April 12, the actor’s daughter Corinne Foxx posted a statement to Instagram explaining that her father had gone into hospital the day before, writing: “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday.” However, she offered little detail as to the cause or severity of Foxx’s illness.

May 2: Kevin Hart says Foxx is “getting better”

During a conversation on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Foxx’s friend Kevin Hart shared an update, saying that the actor’s family are maintaining their privacy while he recovers.

“They’re tight, for reasons, just about where he is, because Jamie’s always been a private person to a certain degree,” said Hart. “He’s getting better in his situation, and you know, everybody’s prayers, everybody’s love, energy – all that stuff is seen and felt. To my knowledge there’s a lot of progression and a world of better, man.”

May 3: Foxx thanks fans for support

Several weeks after the news first broke of Foxx’s health issues, a a brief message was uploaded to the actor’s Instagram account. “Appreciate all the love!!!” it read. “Feeling blessed.”

Several of Foxx’s famous friends and co-stars, including Vin Diesel, Jeremy Renner and Courteney Cox commented on the post to express their love and support.

May 12: Foxx’s daughter shares an update

In response to the rumors circulating, Corinne Foxx shared a message on her Instagram Story updating her followers on Foxx’s condition.

“Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild. My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating,” she wrote. “In fact he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support! We have an exciting work announcement coming next week too!”

She has since shared an announcement on May 15 that We Are Family, a TV show featuring both her and her father, is coming to Fox.

June 26: “He’s resting”

Actress Porscha Coleman, who worked with Foxx on the Netflix sitcom Dad Stop Embarrassing Me, stated that she has “talked to people very close to Foxx” and that he is “doing well.”

“Once I heard the news, of course, I reached out, but how Foxx is doing it is how Foxx should be doing it,” she said, describing him as a very private person. “He’s resting, he’s well. And he’s going to be back. Trust and believe.”

June 28: Foxx is “doing well” but “still not himself”

After months of seemingly nobody from outside the family having direct contact with Foxx, John Boyega confirmed to reporters that he had spoken to him on a call.

“He finally picked up the phone. Thank you, bro,” Boyega said while walking the red carpet at the premiere of the Netflix sci-fi comedy They Cloned Tyrone, in which he and Foxx appear alongside each other. “He’s doing well,” Boyega told People. “And then, you know, we just giving him the privacy, and we can’t wait for his return. I gave him the well wishes directly. I gave him all the well wishes. So I’m just gonna be waiting until he comes back out here. So take your time, Jamie. We love you, bro.”

At the same event, They Cloned Tyrone co-producer Datari Turner hinted that Foxx could even be returning to work sooner than imagined. “He’s doing amazing. I promise you. Doing really, really good,” said Turnder. “He’s in really, really good shape and spirits. And he’ll be back on the screen. He’ll be back to work very soon.”

Shortly after, however, People reported that a source close to the family had provided a new update, saying that Foxx “is getting the best care and working hard to recover right now, but he is still not himself,” adding that “he has the tightest circle around him.”

July 10: Foxx parties on boat in first public sighting

Foxx was seen living it up on a boat on the Chicago River in photos acquired by TMZ, looking in high spirits and waving at passersby. He also posted an update on how he’s doing to social media for the first time in months, tweeting that he’s living that “boat life” and “staying blessed.”

This first public sighting of Foxx since his hospitalization has calmed the fears of many fans, and seeing him clearly enjoying himself in Chicago is being taken as a very good sign that the actor’s recovery is going well.
