As registered dietitians and personal trainers, one of the most common requests we get is for a “detox” drink that actually helps with bloating — and this Raspberry Ginger Lime Detox Water is exactly that. It’s hydrating, refreshing, and packed with ingredients that help your body de-puff naturally.

Quick Answer: This anti-bloat drink works because it combines hydrating water with potassium-rich lime, anti-inflammatory ginger, digestion-calming mint, and antioxidant-rich raspberries — a combo that helps flush excess sodium, ease digestion, and curb overeating before it starts. Drink it before a big event (a BBQ, a wedding, a pool day) for the best results, though it’s just as great as a post-indulgence reset.

This drink was actually born from your requests. After you kept asking us for detox drinks and flushes — like our Orange-Lime Sparkling Refresher, Lemon Mint Detox Drink, Morning Detox Shot, Sparkling Cucumber Detox and Refresher, Citrus Reboot and Detox Flush, and Kale Recharge Smoothie — we went tasting and testing until we landed on this one, which combines the best of everything you loved.

Funny enough, the real spark came from somewhere unexpected: a cocktail we tried at NYC’s trendy Standard Hotel Biergarten. We couldn’t believe it ourselves, but that drink had so many ingredients that fight inflammation and counteract overindulgence — minus the splash of vodka, of course. We knew we had to turn it into something you could sip guilt-free, any day of the week.

What Is Raspberry Ginger Lime Detox Water?

We put “detox” in quotes for a reason: your liver and kidneys do the real detoxing, not a drink. What this does do is support your body’s natural processes — hydration, digestion, and sodium balance — so you feel lighter and less puffy. Think of it less as a magic flush and more as a smart, simple habit that sets you up to feel your best.

The best part? There’s no wrong way to make it. Use as much or as little of each ingredient as you like, swap something out if you don’t have it, or use seltzer instead of water if you love the bubbles. This drink is endlessly forgiving.

Why This Anti-Bloat Drink Works Best Before the Event

  1. It gets your mind (and body) on the healthy track. Starting your day with something good for your body tends to set the tone for everything that follows — you’re simply less likely to want to undo that progress later.
  2. It helps curb overeating. Sipping a hydrating drink before you arrive at an event means you’re less likely to show up starving and reach for the saltiest, highest-calorie hors d’oeuvres on the table.
  3. It counteracts sodium bloat. The potassium in this drink helps flush excess sodium and restore normal fluid balance, which means less puffiness. Staying well-hydrated also keeps your digestive tract moving — which helps prevent the kind of bloat that comes from constipation.

The Best Occasions to Drink This (And How to Use It)

This drink works anytime, but it really shines as a “pre-game” sip before events where you want to feel light and confident. A few of our favorite ways to use it:

  • Before a BBQ: Sip a glass on the drive over or while you’re getting ready. You’ll show up hydrated instead of starving, which makes it much easier to bypass the chips and go straight for the grilled protein and veggies.
  • Before a pool party or beach day: Bring a thermos of it with you and keep sipping throughout the day — it’s a great way to stay hydrated in the sun while keeping bloat at bay in a swimsuit.
  • Before a date: A glass an hour or two beforehand helps you feel calm, light, and confident — no last-minute “do I look bloated” worries.
  • Before a wedding or big event: Make a batch the night before so it’s ready to grab on your way out the door. It’s also a great non-alcoholic option to sip on while you’re getting your hair and makeup done.
  • The morning after overindulging: It works just as well in reverse — as a gentle reset the day after a big event.

The takeaway: drinking this before you need it is what makes it work so well. It gets your body (and mindset) in a good place ahead of time, rather than trying to undo damage after the fact.

The Bloat-Fighting Ingredients, Explained

Vitamin C (from raspberries, lime, and mint)

Vitamin C supports collagen formation (hello, glowing skin) and helps strengthen your immune system. Combined with the hydration from this drink, it’s a simple way to support skin health from the inside out.

Lime

Lime is one of the best flushing foods around — it’s packed with potassium and water, which helps restore fluid balance and flush bloat-causing sodium. It’s also a great flavor swap for salt in recipes generally. (Fair warning if you ever open Lyssie’s fridge: she keeps it so stocked with limes that one might just roll out and land on your toe.)

Ginger

Ginger soothes the stomach and intestinal tract and has anti-inflammatory properties that help protect cells from free radical damage. It’s an ideal ingredient for calming your gut before you ask it to handle a buffet table.

Mint

Mint eases indigestion and calms the stomach, possibly by improving bile flow, which helps speed and ease digestion. Its anti-inflammatory antioxidant, rosmarinic acid, helps settle things internally.

Raspberries

Raspberries bring powerful anti-aging and disease-fighting phytonutrients to the mix. Some research suggests their phytochemical C3G may help increase production of adiponectin (which supports fat metabolism) and leptin (which helps regulate appetite) — though this is an area of ongoing research, not a guarantee.

How to Make Raspberry Ginger Lime Detox Water

Prep time: 5 minutes Infuse time: 2 hours minimum (or overnight for best flavor) Servings: 12

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup raspberries
  • 2 limes, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons chopped or pureed ginger
  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 3 quarts (12 cups) water

Instructions

  1. Add the limes, mint, raspberries, and ginger to a large pitcher with the water.
  2. Cover and let sit for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the most flavor. Feel free to muddle the fruit gently with a wooden spoon to release more flavor.
  3. Serve chilled over ice, or strain out the solids first if you prefer a clearer drink.
  4. Store in the fridge and sip throughout the day.

Tip: Using a water infuser bottle? Add all the ingredients to the infuser cartridge and let it sit in your water or seltzer of choice.

FAQs

Is this drink an actual medical “detox”? No — your liver and kidneys handle real detoxification. This drink simply supports hydration, digestion, and sodium balance, which can help reduce the feeling of bloat.

How long does it keep in the fridge? It’s best within 2-3 days. The flavor will be strongest in the first 24 hours after infusing.

Can I drink this every day? Yes — there’s nothing in here that needs to be limited to occasional use. It’s simply infused water with fruit, herbs, and ginger.

What if I don’t have one of the ingredients? Leave it out. This recipe is intentionally flexible — even with one or two ingredients missing, you’ll still get a hydrating, flavorful drink.

Can I make this ahead of a party? Definitely — in fact, making it the night before gives the flavors more time to infuse.
