When the scale keeps creeping up, your energy dips despite sleeping eight to nine hours, and your body feels out of sync, yet your labs come back “normal,” it’s easy to feel like you’re the problem. Dr. Amie Hornaman knows that feeling all too well. She spent years competing in fitness and figure competitions, tracking her macros, training twice a day, and doing everything the industry says should yield results. But during one prep cycle in her 20s, something was off. Despite going by the books, her weight began to climb. “I was following everything perfectly, but I kept gaining…
Hibiscus or ‘roselle’ or ‘red sorrel,’ has been a part of traditional medicine for centuries. Hibiscus is rich in antioxidants and grows in several warm countries like India, Mexico, Sudan, Thailand, Egypt, and China. People have used various parts of hibiscus plants, like seeds, flowers, leaves, and stems, for multiple purposes worldwide. It promotes weight loss, is anti-bacterial, prevents cancer, and supports the health of the heart and liver. Presently, hibiscus is available in several varieties, like jams, jellies, sauces, syrups, and teas worldwide. Hibiscus is available as an extract or, more often, a tea. There are several hundred species…
But soon after that, the International Skating Union (ISU), skating’s worldwide governing body, made the decision to ban backflips from competition due in large part to the high risk of head and neck injuries. In fact, Kubicka reported his own coach, Evy Scotvold, suffered a head injury practicing the move as a member of the Ice Follies, according to Ice Skating International—a fact Kubicka only learned after his Olympics turn. (Other banned sports moves include the Korbut flip and the Thomas salto, both in gymnastics, for context.)For the next 47 years the ban stood, though a few skaters still performed…
Lifting heavy weights overhead—and keeping it overhead—is challenging. That’s where lockout issues happen. Elbows drift forward, ribs flare, and eventually the press turns into a standing incline bench. The weight still goes up, but the position is gone, along with your power, shoulder health, and much of any long-term progress. Lifters often place the blame on either weak triceps or the load itself. But usually the issue is poor overhead positioning. A strong lockout requires shoulder flexion, upward rotation, and thoracic extension to work together. If you can’t get there without compensation, it puts stress where it doesn’t belong. Improving…
Do these 4 daily CPT moves and feel your arm strength come back fast, starting today. Arm strength after 45 doesn’t fade overnight, and it doesn’t disappear because dumbbells stop working. It fades because daily movement stops demanding the arms to support, stabilize, and control the body. Traditional dumbbell workouts often isolate muscles while removing posture, coordination, and endurance from the equation. The arms work, but not in the way real life requires. Daily arm restoration works better when strength builds through sustained tension, joint-friendly angles, and whole-body coordination. When the shoulders stay stacked, the elbows move with control, and…
We spend a lot of time trying to figure things out. Clarifying goals. Weighing options. Optimizing next steps. All of that has its place. But there’s another form of guidance at work long before the pros-and-cons list ever starts forming. Instinct. Not impulse. Not reaction. But that subtle sense that something fits—or doesn’t—before you can fully explain why. Instinct is what surfaces when intention is already present. When you know what matters to you, even loosely, your gut has context. It’s no longer guessing. It’s responding. That’s why intuition often goes quiet when we’re scattered. Without intention, it has nothing…
Dorian Yates created one of the all-time best bodybuilding physiques of the ’90s with an attention to detail that saw him present the total package on stage. “The Shadow” sported shoulders, biceps, chest, back, and legs that were the envy of many of his rivals, but despite the six-time Mr Olympia’s extensive list of exercises during those “blood and guts” workout sessions, the champ never targeted his forearms directly, instead choosing to work this muscle group into his quest for building mass in other areas. Fortunately, in a recent Instagram post, the big man shared his method. Why Forearms Are…
Fruits are an unavoidable part of the daily diet, whether you enjoy them freshly cut or as smoothies. Many people are accustomed to peeling fruits and only consuming the fleshy and juicy inside. But have you ever considered eating the seeds, too? In fact, some fruit seeds offer essential nutrients, which are often overlooked as people throw away the seeds. Seeds are excellent plant-based sources of omega-3s, protein, fibre, vitamins, and minerals. Despite having a nutrient profile similar to nuts, seeds are not as widely recognised. This article will explore the nutritious seeds found in fruits, take a closer look…
There’s a reason The Class tends to stay with people long after they’ve taken it. It’s not just the physical intensity or the music. It’s the way the experience lands internally, often in places people didn’t realize they were holding anything at all. For Taryn Toomey, that depth is familiar, even if the language around it isn’t always straightforward. “This has always been a hard one for me,” she says when asked to describe The Class. “To me, it’s a ceremony, but I know that word gets lost on many.” When she explains it more practically, the framing becomes grounded…
